Strawberries
Strawberries are the biggest part of our business, there are 19 varieties available. These vary in when they start fruiting, how long they produce for, how much crop to expect and what properties the strawberry has. All this information can be found on each product description.
Our strawberries are grown by us in mid Norfolk. Almost all the weeding in done by hand, as is most of the work!
We know all too well that home grown strawberries taste the best and we want you to experience this as well.
Which Strawberry Variety Should I Buy
Here at Moore Berries we grow lots of different varieties of strawberry plants which can make picking a variety seem daunting. this guide will make pick one (or a few) a little easier.

Early, Mid or Late Which one should I pick?
Easy, Mid and late refer to the time during the fruiting season which the variety is at is most prolific. There is not a vast difference in the picking seasons but having a mix will spread your strawberry harvest over a longer period. These are June bearer varieties you then also get ever bearer which will fruit over more of the season.

What is the sweetest strawberry variety?
Now this question is really about personal choice but here at Moore Berries we have a few stand out varieties. The top one is Hapil this has to be one of the sweetest Uk strawberry varieties and we believe everyone should try growing it at least once to see. The next up is Vibrant. Its another very good choice giving a really good flavour and texture and best of all it can produce fruit twice in 1 year. Then there are the classics like Cambridge Favourite, Rosie, Sophie and Red Gauntlet.
What strawberry variety is best for making Jam?
All strawberries are okay for making jam but there a few that top the table here. Cambridge Favourite, Florence, Honeoye, Elsanta, Red Gauntlet and Alice. All these varieties are a good choice if your looking to get a patch established for making jam at home.

What is the most hardy strawberry variety?
Most strawberries tick this box as they can survive most things but the are a few that stand out again. Florence is a top choice for poor land or where you believe you may have problems. It can cope with most things and is even resistant to Vine Weevil. We also have some varieties like Sweetheart and Cupid which are more modern and have a good tolerance to some diseases that you may come up against.

What is the best strawberry for hanging baskets?
A good choice of strawberry for hanging baskets is either Vibrant or Florence. Vibrant grows on long flower trusses which can overhang the baskets well meaning the fruit is very easy to pick and they also look amazing. Florence is good for its resistance to things like Vine Weevil that it may come up against.

There are many more varieties on our site and they really are all great so take a look and see what you might out in your fruit patch next.
